Is HAART (Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy) Suboptimal in Lymphoid Tissues?
According to data presented this week during the "International Workshop on HIV Persistence, Reservoirs and Eradication Strategies", held in Sint Maarten, December 6-9, 2011, current ART regimens could not be potent enough in lymphoid tissues, allowing ongoing viral propagation to uninfected cells, despite undetectable plasma viremia. We asked Professor Mario Stevenson from Miami University to detail the results of this study.
